      Checkbox to show as pop-up text edit box?

      Post

      Hi there,

      I have a list of chemicals on an application table that show up as checkboxes, where the user clicks on the ones being used during an application.  One of the checkboxes is a generic "other" box for those rare times the chemical is not listed.  Is it possible that when the user checks "other" that a pop-up box can come up where they can type in the name of the chemical?  As it is now, reports just show the occasional "other", without showing what the chemical actually is

      Thanks

          One way to handle this is to NOT format the field as checkboxes on the report layout. If you leave it as edit box, you'll get a return-separated list of the chemicals used - including those that were entered as "Other...".

            Hi

            near the "Other..." check, place a calculation field, result text, and calc:

            Substitute ( YourCheckBoxField ; ¶ ; " " )

            This will show the "Other..." values ( but also any checked one )

            If you'll change the calc to:

            Trim(
            Substitute ( ¶ & YourCheckboxField & ¶
            ; [ "¶a¶" ; ¶ ]
            ; [ "¶b¶" ; ¶ ]
            ; [ "¶c¶" ; ¶ ]
            ; [ "¶d¶" ; ¶ ]
            ; [ ¶ ; " " ]
            )
            )

            This will show ONLY the "Other..." values

            ( Note that a, b, c, d are the values of your original ValueList )
