What you have set up looks correct. What font size are you specifying? Keep in mind that if the text has been directly edited to apply a font size or it was pasted with a font size already applied, this text formatting will supersede the text formatting applied via the layout.
I have it set for a size of ten
how do I strip the text of any preceding size formatting?
could it be that the database must be closed by other users. In other words, editing the db while others have it open is a no-no?
To strip the formatting out of the text for existing records, use Replace Field Contents like this: (And it's best to do this while no one else is editing data or the record they are editing will be locked against any changes by you.)
Go to a layout where this field is displayed and where the layout refers to the field's table in layout setup...|Show Records From.
Select Show All Records from the Records menu
Click or tab into the field, select Replace Field Contents from the Records menu and use this calculation with the "by calculation" option:
TextFormatRemove ( YourTable::YourField )
To keep additional text formatting from being applied to this field, set up an auto enter calculation on the field:
TextFormatRemove ( Self )
And clear the "do not replace existing value..." check box.
but I do NOT want to strip bold, underline, etc.---- just the size
how should I work around that?
There's a function called TextSizeRemove that you can use to just remove the font size.
one more thing: the cpnditional formatting appeasr to work on my machine, the server
put it is NOT apparent---- for some records--- on the machine sharing my files
What version of FileMaker is installed on the machine sharing your files?
Server is v 11
I don't have a copy of FileMaker 8 to check. Does FileMaker 8 support conditional formatting? (Open a file with it and see if you have conditional formatting as an option.)
My database is getting a lot better.
I am trying to create a field that would give me the status of a Member (Active or Inactive) depending on his Deposit Balance.
If Balance = 0 then it should be Inactive and it balance different than 0 then it should be Active.
On top of that, I want another field that will give me the count of Active members.
