Hierarchical Conditional Value lists: Conditional Value List Question
Feel free to post follow up quesitons here if those links aren't enough to get your value lists working correctly.
Thank you very much:)
I have 3 fields actually. Like I said, I have 3 Category. Each category must have many sub-category. Now, each sub-category have many subsub-category.
I want it to be like this: When I choose category , so the realated sub-category will be listed. Then, after choosing sub-category , related subsub-category will be listed.
I've done setting up conditional field for 2 field using your demo file. Now I have to setup conditional value for 3 field. Can you give me another conditional value demo file for 3 fields? If you can't, how can I do that?
See the very last link. It's not a demo file, but that poster had the same question and that thread walks you through the process of a hierarchical conditional value list.
Thank you very much for the answers :) . I solved it.
I got one more question.
I got 2 fields. The thing I want is, When I choose "yes" in the first radio buton field, I want an other field to appear. How can I do that ?
Thanks in advance :)
There are a number of ways to do that. What precisely do you mean by "I want an other field to appear"?
Do you want data--such as a message--to appear next to the radio button field? Do you want a field to appear so that the user can enter their own data? or?
I want a field to appear o that user can enter their data into the field
I know of two methods:
1) put a transparent tab control with two panels on your layout. Make the labels for each tab panel 0 width and give each an object name in the inspector. Use a script performed with an OnObjectModify trigger set on the radio button field like this:
If [YourTable::RadiobuttonField = "Yes"]
Go to Object ["ObjectNameOfPanel 2"]
Go to Object["objectnameOfPanel 1"]
Put your field on the second tab panel and it will appear and disappear when you click a radio button in the field.
2) Add a portal to another occurrence of the same table as your layout specifies. Define a relationship for this portal that is only valid if the Radio button field = "yes". Put your data field in the portal. You can make the portal invisible by specifying transparent fill patterns and/or 0 width borders.
When you click "yes" a valid relationship is established and a record with the field appears in the portal. Click a different radio button or clear the field and it will disappear as there is no longer a valid relationship to that portal record.
Thank you very much :) . I solved all the majority problems in my database. Thanks again for answering. Really appreciate your help :)
