Connecting to SQL 2008 via ODBC

Connecting to SQL 2008 via ODBC

      Hi all,

I am trying to configure the FileMaker ODBC to my SQL Server 2008 to extract data. The FileMaker Pro 11 that I installed is on Windows 7 - 64bit. I opened the odbcad32.exe at C:\Windows\SysWOW64 and tried to create a new system DSN with FileMaker ODBC driver. After I typed in the IP of my SQL server, there was an error: "There was an error connecting to the host"... Any idea about the problem?

(I am sure that there is no problem on the IP and my SQL server 2008 because the setup of DSN with standard MS SQL ODBC driver is okay)

      Many thanks.

          Thank you for posting.

The FileMaker ODBC driver is for connecting to a FileMaker data source.  In order to connect to MS SQL, you would need the Microsoft SQL Native  Client 2007.100.2531.00. Once you setup the System DSN with this driver,  then you can create a new External Data Source in FileMaker Pro.
