Container Field - Color When Empty
Is it possible to show a container field with a colored background when it is Empty and No Background when the container contains an object?
Yes, with conditional formatting. Set it to Value is equal to "" and set your color.
Thanks, Marc! Is it also possible to have it not print when empty?
The only way I know how to do that would be to make an identical layout for printing purposes and have a conditional format for the container that matches the background when empty so you dont see it. Use this layout for printing purposes only. Have a scripted button that goes to this layout then performs your print script steps, when complete go to origional layout. If you need something like this and do not know how to write the script relpy here and I'll help you with it. This is the only way I know how to acheive what you ask, or a few other tricks with conditional formating and relative fields.
You could also use a transparent container field and place a button, field or layout text object behind the transparent container field. This object can be set up with the conditional format. The expression can also use the IsEmpty function instead of ="" if you want. Since this is now a separate object, you can go to the sliding and visibility section of the Inspector and select "hide when printing" for this object.
