Hard to understand your question, but I'll take a shot.
Do you want the same created/modified date in all existing records? If so you could go into form view, get a found set of the records you want to replace, click in the field you want to replace, and use the Records>Replace Field Contents....
Thanks for the reply.
I know it seems a little strange, but yes.
The records already exist, i have since added the logging fields (Created, Created User, Mod, Mod User) these work fine for all new new records but if i try to change en existing i get an error because there is no created time-stamp or created user, also there is no where on the form to chance the info as they re only displayed by merge fields so they cant be entered/changed.
I will have a go with find and replace.
Cant you just add those fields temporarily to get the info into, then delete the fields when you're done?
And Replace Field Contents will work better than find / replace for this if I understand fully what you are trying to do.
Hi Steve and Phil,
Thanks for your answers, i did try to use the replace only part of Find / Replace but i couldn't get it to work?
I ended up manually pasting the values in, it wasn't too bad there is only just over 100 records to do.
I wondered if it was because the field was a Time Stamp field or auto enter so i changed it back to a text field but still no joy with the replace function?
I will look into it more if i ever come up against it again.
I didn't suggest that you use find/replace but that you use Replace Field Contents--it's a different tool/script step and you'll find it in the records menu where find/replace is found in the edit menu.
Ahh, sorry I see i thought you were refering to just using the replace side of find / replace.
Yes, replace field content works perfectly. Thank you.
