Go to Manage | Database | Fields and double click your field definition to open field options.
Select the auto-enter tab.
Select the calcualtion option and enter this expression. (You can copy and paste it from here):
TextFormatRemove ( Self )
Then clear the "do not replace existing value..." check box.
That worked Phil, thank you! I have 100 fields to apply this calculation to. Some fields already have a calculation of some sort. Can I just add this new calculation to the existing one, or is there an issue with that?
For example, one of my fields (Fax #) has a calculated value as follows:
Fax Number = "(" & Left(Self; 3) & ") " & Middle(Self; 4; 3) & "-" & Right(Self; 4)
How would I add "TextFormatRemove ( Self )" to this calculation? I tried putting on as a next line, but it says an operator (e.g. +,-,*,...) is expected here and won't let me save.
Put your existing calculation inside the textFormat Remove function:
TextFormatRemove ( "(" & Left(Self; 3) & ") " & Middle(Self; 4; 3) & "-" & Right(Self; 4) )
That did it! Thank you once again for your help!
