      Count Down Days

      Post

      Hello,

I am very new to this, basically I have created a simple database that will list several tasks which have a deadline.

Is it possible to have a real-time count down ie. if I enter a start and end date can it display a countdown till the deadline which will update automatically each day?

      Thanks

      Sam

          Howdy SamanthaB,

          Welcome to the forum.

You could have a calculation field defined as:

          EndDateField - Get(CurrentDate)

This will give you the difference, measured in days.

note that this will also give you a negative number if you are past the deadline.

Make sure the calculation's result type is set to Number AND select "Do not store…" in the storage options.

            So why not =

            Case ( DueDate > Get (CurrentDate) ; DueDate - Get (CurrentDate) )

              Why not indeed.

I was simply pointing out what might occur.  I don't know whether that would be a good or bad thing in the application.  I leave negatives in place in many cases (such as material available after all orders filled) so that we know not only that we're short (late in this case), but also by how much.

If negatives are unwanted, your suggestion sounds perfect.
