Counting values in found records
For a nonprofit organization, I'm trying to get a count of the number of donors this year. Some have given more than once.
Our database has a file of member information and a related file of donations. I've created a report layout and found the records for donations during the year. The report correctly subtotals the donation by donor and adds them all up, but I can't get an accurate count of the donors.
I've followed instructions from elsewhere in this forum for counting, but if the "1" for a donor's unique record ended up on an earlier donation, it doesn't show or count in the list of recent donations. Any suggestions?
There's a method called "summing the reciprocal" that I've learned from Comment--someone who used to be quite active in this forum.
