To search for a literal ?, enclose it in quotes: "?"
Not sure how to find the code for ctrl a if you want the ascii code. In fileMaker scripts, you can detect that the control key is down with Get ( ActiveModifierKeys )
I have created a script that substitutes ? for "?". This is to allow a search for literal ?, used in text fields where a date search is not relevant.
Performing a little testing, I have created 3 records, and enterd the following data into a text field - (1) ?, (2) ?? and (3) ???.
A search for ? returns 3 records. However, a search for ?? that will be substituted for two literal ? ("?""?") returns 0 records.
I would have expected a return of 2 records (? and ??).
Am I misunderstanding the way FM performs a find?
Thanks in advance
Yes, Use "??" and you will find ?? and ??? but not ?.
Finding ? and ?? but not ??? would require two requests. Request one would specify "?" and find all three. The second request would be an omit request to omit ???.
