I have used conditional formatting to hide things. You can use the calculation to make the text and field background the same color so it is not visible. It doesn't stop the user from entering the field though.
It does if you put the field on one of the tabs and then use a triggered script to go to either the tab with the field on it or the tab without the field on it.
I will try the "Conditional Formatting" I think it will be a satisfactory solution. The hiding is not critical. So to make the field(s) not visible will be good.
I am not sure about the 'tab' and"trigger' I will also experiment with this as well.
