Import data to a Filemaker table from Excel will bring only data. It will do a mapping between the column of excelsheet w.r.t the field of Filemaker table. Then it import the data from excel accordingly. So about calculation, it will not apply the same calculation you have setup in the excel rather it brings the data. SO if you want to set any calculation field then you have to define your own calculation field with calculation setup manually.
I will suggest you can have a walkthrough on these topics in the help of Filemaker.
Maybe you need to learn the basics of Filemaker by looking at a beginners tutorial Screencast like the one on my youtube channel. That might make things a little clearer:
The manuals for filemaker can be found here:
But because manuals are boring you might be better of watching the screencasts.
Because Filemaker refers to other fields differently then Excell does you will need to recreate your formulas. But you can import an excell file into a table. After that you just need to change the imported fields to calculation fields where neccecary.
So: Excel Formulae cannot be imported. I was hoping to avoid having to type in complex formulaic relationships.
I look forward to learning the basics and thank you for the links to the best first time user material.
And thank you for saving me hours of study only to find it cannot be done - that is a valuable assist.
You might try copying the formulas to the clipboard, pasting them into FIleMaker's Specify calculation dialog and then editing the expression to replace the cell references with field names.
