IF so, you should use Post a Answer to respond to such questions so the original post and all follow on comments/questions/answers form a "thread" so that those reading it (including me) can keep track of the full context of your question.
I suggest that you start be defining a separate, global field for selecting the employee so that you can keep separate actions that look up data about that employee and actions that enter data for that employee. The same would be true for specifying a date.

How is it that you can add "todays date" to automatically show up and create a new ID?
I usually limit my replies to any given thread to one per day. Otherwise I find I've spent way too much of my day volunteering here in the forum.
You can specify an auto enter field option on your date field that automatically enteres the creation date so you can just create the new record and today's date is automatically entered into that field.
