Creating a 32bit runtime in FMPA13
I have to create a runtime for an institution that only has machines running 32bit Win7. Is that possible with FMPA13? The runtime I have now just produces an error "... not a 32bit program ..."
A runtime is created by generating a "crippled copy" of the FileMaker executable installed on your machine, FileMaker 13 Advanced in your case. I don't see why that wouldn't be a 32 bit version of the software.
And when I create and launch a runtime on my W7 system, I do not see that error message...
All my systems are 64bit - I actually work in a Parallels VM on an iMac, but I also have two Windows machines. The 64bit runtimes work on my machines because they are created on a 64bit machine and are run on a 64bit machine. My problem is that I need to produce a 32bit runtime to run on other peoples' 32bit machines.
I don't think that will be possible for the reasons I have explained in my last post--your executable is used to produce the runtime's executable. (and apologies for forgetting that the current "standard" is 64 bit...)
Install the 32-bit version of FileMaker Advanced (this still works when your OS is 64-bit). The 32-bit FMPA will then generate 32-bit runtimes.
