Creating a Go To Layout Button that Goes to a specific record

      Post

      Hi,

Is it possible to create a button that goes from one layout to another and matches specific layoutwithin the record?

IE: I have two different layouts, each of which have a field actor name. Is it possible to look create a button on one layout that takes me records that match the actor name field in the 2nd layout?

          Howdy castasst,

          Thanks for the post!

Two ways you could do this easily...

          1. If the records are related by the actor name field, use the command "Go to Related Record".

          2. If they are not related, but you just want to match the name anyway:

Tie the button to a script that does the following:

          a. go to field "actor name" [select entire contents]

          b. copy

          c. go to layout [2nd layout]

          d. enter find mode

          e. go to field [the one where you want to find the actor name]

          f. paste [select entire field contents]

          g. perform find

either way should do it...one slick, the other brute force...see which one fits better to your application.
