      Creating a Record

      Post

      Hi,

How do I create record so that it has the name of the previous record I am in previous to creating this record.

      I will explain,

I have patients, these patients make visits to the Dr.  I want to be able to go to this patient, create a button that allows me to create a new visit.  Which will take me to the visit layout.  I have been able to do that OK

My problem is that once I am in the visits layout I want to be able to avoid having to select the patient again, I would like the patients detail to be already there.

      Can you help?

      Thanks

ctrl-' in a field will copy a value from the same field of the previous record edited.

But in your case, I'd have a script set up that saves the patient ID in a global variable when you perform a script that takes you to the visits layout. Then you can set the foreign key field for your visits table to auto-enter the value of this global variable.
