Creating a running list of "notes"

      Post

I have FileMakerPro 11.  I'd like to have a database where I can enter a user name, note and date, and click some kind of button, and have it added to a running list, sorted by date.  I currently have two Tables, and have made relations between fields, but I'm stuck there.

I apologize if this question has already been answered.  I was unable to figure it out on my own.  I'm not very familiar with FileMakerPro.

           Thanks!

You don't really need the button though it can be useful.

All you really need is a portal to a related table where each record is one such note. Use a text field for the note to be entered, a text field that auto-enters the current account or user name (they are not the same thing), and a text field that auto-enters the creation date.

If you enable "allow creation of records via this relationship" for the related portal table, you can add a new note just by typing text into the note field and the other fields will automatically enter the required data.
