      Creating an attendance layout

      Post

I'm trying to create an attendance table and a layout that would show me the persons ID#, followed by 3 date fields that represent days (Monday, Thursday and Saturday). The way I wanted to set it up so that when I want to add more attendance dates for a specific ID#, 3 new fields would appear for the same person, allowing me to add more dates. I also wanted to set it up so that the new date fields would appear above the other date fields, this way dates alread entered are below the new date entries. Can someone help?

In FileMaker you don't add fields dynamically like this. Instead, you add more records. Use one table where one record represents one person and another table where one record represents one day's attendance for one person. Link them in a relationship by a serial number field defined in the Person table. A series of one row portals added side by side can be used to show mutliple days of attendance in a single row for a given person.
