creating pie charts from drop down menus

      Post

      Hi,

I am a complete newbe to FMP and databases - help! Getting on well with FMP but I need to create Pie and bar charts from data produced in drop down menus.

For example, I have a security business and want to see how many records are Intruder, cctv or fire systems in chart form but so far the charts I produce show all records as a percentage of all records available. (ie from 100 records - 30 intruder, 50 fire and 20 cctv systems are shown as individual 1% segments)

Can anyone tell me the next step?

      Thank you

      Steve

Did you see the response to your previous post?

Define a summary field as the "count of" some never empty field such as your drop down controlled field where you select "intruder", "fire", etc.

Select the options I recommended earlier in this post that you made: Creating a chart from field data

And specify the summary field as the field you want to chart here.

You'll need to put this chart in the layout body and sort your records by the drop down field to group them into groups so that each group is a "wedge" in your pie chart.
