I am a new user to FMP. I created a credential database. I created six tables that sorts the data. The rolodex table lists staff including their departments, and positions. The remaining five tables specify passes, laminates, parking, t-shirts and tickets each person receives. I created a rolodex id field to link all tables together.
I want to create a report by department that will show what staff will receive. The problem is that each person receives a different number of each type of credential. I have included 8 repetitions for each field but I only want to show the ones that have information, not the blank fields. I tried to create sub-summary reports and portals but I am not having success.
Please let me know where I am going wrong.
I think you'd be better off to revisit the portal approach and get rid of your repeating fields.
A summary report might be possible for what you describe or it might work better to use portals set to slide up. (It depends on what you need to show in your reports ).
Take a look on this tutorial on summary reports. Does it look like a possible solution?
