Describe step by step how you are putting a field on one tab and seeing it appear on all of them.
I clicked on the tab icon in the layout mode. Then I dragged the crosshair onto the body of the layout page and then a pop up box came up asking me to create labels for the tabs. I created the tabs. It appeared on the body of the layout page. I am working with a predesigned template (student records). So I added more tabs to the layout. From there, I deleted the fields already there in the predesigned template. Then I added new fields by clicking the field icon and dragging it into the tab layout. Once i did that it applied all the fields into all the tabs I created. When I clicked on a different tab and tried to changed the field by deleting and then clicking on the field icon and dragging it into the tab. It would change all tabs not just that particular one. Does this help.
Thanks for the clarification.
I sounds like the fields are not being placed completely within the boundaries of a given tab control. When you use the field tool to place a field on a tab it should become part of that tab control and not be visible on any other tab unless you also place it there in a separate "add field" action.
Try this, drag from the field icon in your task bar onto your tab control. Do not let go of the mouse unless all parts of the dotted rectangle under your mouse pointer are completely within the boundaries of the tab control. Now let go.
Move your tab control around with the mouse. If you've successfully added the field to a tab, it will move with the tab control. If it is not part of the tab, it will stay put when the tab control is moved. If the field moves when you move the tab, try click on a different tab in the control and you should see the field disappear until you click back on the original tab.
Post back here if that works for you.
Also make sure that you tab control in in the body and does not overlap into the header part.
I looked at the database and all of the fields are inside the tabbed layout. The layout does not have a footer though. The tabs also extended beyond the right side of the page (border line). When I adjusted that, it still did not work. Any other things I can try?
I said header not footer...
The tabs are no where near the header. They are at the bottom of the page.
Thank you for your posts.
Without seeing your file, it is difficult to determine what is the problem. Perform the following steps:
1. Create a new Blank layout.
2. Remove the Header and Footer parts.
3. Add a tab control with 5 tabs.
4. Use the Field tool and put a field in each tab.
5. Go to browse and see if the problem continues.
If the problem disappears, then the original tab control may be corrupt. Remove it and try again. Make sure the tab control exists completely within the Body part.
Please continue to keep us updated with your progress.
I'm not sure how to remove the header and footer parts. Can you assist me with this?
Click on the part and hit the delete key.
