Data Entry Delay w File Maker 10

Data Entry Delay w File Maker 10

Our system was updated with File Maker 10 and instead of an upgrade, the program is very slow and any new data entry does not automatically appear.  Any newly entered data will remain blank for anywhere between 2 to 5 minutes while the system is working to 'process' the new info.  New data will eventually appear - is this normal for File Maker 10?  Our older version did not have this issue.  Does anyone know how to fix it or what the problem may be?

Thanks in advance for your time

Sounds like you need to check the External Data Sources in the databases.  There might be a definition to a database that doesn't exist, or that has to be accessed remotely.

            Thank you for your post.

No, this is not normal behavior.   It sounds like FileMaker Pro 10 is trying to open or access another file.

Try creating a new database file with one table and one field.  Start entering data into multiple records.  Does FileMaker Pro still take a long time to enter new information?  If so, then there may be a problem with FileMaker Pro, and you should uninstall and reinstall the application.  If data entry is quick, then you'll need to look at your original file more carefully for possible clues.
