Make sure that port 5003 is open on your router. FileMaker uses this port for sharing files.

The host computer appears in the Open Remote window on the clients. Only the databases don't appear. Would this still be a port issue?
I've just experienced the SSL issue. The database appears in the host dialogue, but none of the files were visible.
Incidentally, before patch was installed, I was able to see files on another server that did not have encryption enabled.
So I think this issue may indeed be an SSL issue. Make sure it's installed on client and if necessary (I think it depends on the version of Operating System running on your server) on the server too.
Installing the update fixed the problem. Thanks you all for the help!
