I'd like to format a date field so that it displays months as roman numerals, for example todays date would be XI-19-2009, but it doesn't seem possible using the Date Format dialog box.  Any suggests how I might be able to do this?

You wil need a calculation field (with a Text result), e.g.:

          Choose ( Month ( Datefield ) - 1 ; "I" ; "II" ; "III" ; "IV" ; "V" ; "VI" ; "VII" ; "VIII" ; "IX" ; "X" ; "XI" ; "XII" ) & "-" & Day ( Datefield ) & "-" &

          Year ( Datefield )

How can a Date field take an entry just as a 4-Digit Year such as 2000 or 2010?  I have tried the Custom format which shows the example to be displayed would be 2000 or 2010, but when going to enter I get an error message:

The value of this field must be a valid date in the range of years 1 to 4000 and should look like "12/25/2003"  Revert Field or OK

Reverting Filed yields a blank field, OK returns the Error Message.

The only way I found is by changing from Date to Text or Number.  I'm using FMP 9.0.

You would have to put it in a number field or enter it as a valid date format.
