LaunchDate - Get ( CurrentDate ) will give you the number of days left. Make sure that the calculation is unstored with number result and that LaunchDate is a date field.
BTW, in case you dont want a number ever less than 0 you can modify the calc slightly:
Let ( d = LaunchDate - Get ( CurrentDate ); Case ( d < 0; 0; d ) )
try with an UNSTORED calculation, result number:
launch date - Get( CurrentDate )
Oh you're both brilliant. Thank you so much.
An extension of that issue, is that I wanted conditional formatting on some fields. So, for example, when the launch date is 5 days of less away, I've managed to get the launch date to turn red. However, I actually want a field OTHER than the launch date (the name of the company for example) to go red when the launch date hits 5 days away.
Does that have a simple solution as well?
Jsut use the conditional formatting on the other field
Yes, always there is a simple solution with FileMaker !
Suppose that your new field has the name: DaysToGo
the conditional formatting of your others fields will be:
YourTable:: DaysToGo < 6
Brilliant. That does seem very simple! I had tried something like it, but I just wasn't getting the formula right. Thanks very very much, and thanks also for being so prompt.
While this works in FMP app, it does not work in IWP.
Does anyone have a solution to get a countdown to work in a web browser?
Considering that you were not the OP of this thread, I have to ask what you mean by "get a countdown to work".
Thanks Mr Vodka. Your reply (solution) to Hildy works perfectly in Filemaker client, but the countdown, nor the field displays in the database when viewed in IWP. Do you have a way of showing a countdown to a particular date that shows up in an IWP published database?
I dont quite understand your issue. The UNSTORED calc should display correctly in IWP.
