EDITED THIS POST. I thought I found it, but it is back. What is making this setting stick? Only on one file. My other files open without the grid lines.
Is this a local file or one hosted from another computer via FM Pro or FM Server?
It is hosted on FM Server 13. The machine I'm on is Win7. The host is a Win Server 2012.
Also, I noticed that the default measurement for rulers, inspector is inches. When I change it to pts, it's only there while I have the file open. If I close, and re-open, then go back to layout mode. Inches are back, after setting it to pts.
Frustrating. I feel like I've Googled it to death. and done multiple searches in user guides. Can't find the fix.
There are a number of things in a FileMaker file that revert back to the last state specified the last time that the file was open locally with FileMaker Pro before uploading to the server.
It is possible that this is one of them. Try pulling a copy down off the server, changing settings, close the file and then upload it back to your server and see if that makes a difference.
Thanks. I will give it a go, and see what happens.
It isn't working. I've tried it twice. The settings don't even stick on my local version. HHH
I gotta head out for the day. I'll look at it again tomorrow. It obviously has no issue with the way the file works for the users. It's just an annoyance to me. Thanks for helping. I'll keep checking back to see if anyone else has any ideas.
I just tested a local copy of a brand new test file created to test another issue with Get ( FileName ) over in report an issue. At first, the changes that I made to View and position units in the inspector did not "stick" even with everything local. Then I did this:
entered layout mode.
Selected the view grid and units options that I wanted.
Made a small change to the layout and saved my changes while returning to Browse mode.
Then I closed the file. Reopened it and returned to layout mode.
Then the view and units changes showed up as I had last set them before closing the file.
So try making these changes on a local copy with that included layout change and then see if this makes a difference.
