Delete contents of a field in found set
What script do I use to delete the contents of a field in a found set?
Don't need a script, but if you do, there's a one line script step that is the equivalent of the menu option of the same name.
Replace Field contents can be used to clear a field for all the records in your found set.
You can either clear the field in one record of the found set and select the replace field contents option to clear all the others or use this script step, but with your table::field name in place of what I am using:
Replace Field Contents [no dialog; YourTable::Field ; "" ]
I wrote a script and it did not return what I needed and all the records got messed up. Is there a way to undo what was done?
Replace Field Contents cannot be undone.
Any time that you make major changes to your file or the data within it, make a back up copy first so that you can revert to the back up copy if you don't get the results that you expected.
Had you used a looping script to clear these fields and it had gone wrong, you would have found yourself in the same situation.
Great advice as always. I am new to Filemaker but not to databases. I should have known better.
