1. do you have the container set to "Interactive Content"? Optimize for images? (depending on the file type you are using)
(If the name is in an XL file, it won't show. If in a pdf, jpeg it will provided you have selected the appropriate optimization through the inspector)
2. Why insert a file with just a name in it...why not have the name itself in a text field?...I assume this is just testing the function to make sure it works properly?
thanks for reply..
Actually this..file is automatically genrated ...i want to use this things in filemaker..its not part of testing
If the file is a text field, use Import Records to import the text in the file into a text field in a record or records in a table in the database file. That will make the text in the file accessible for display.
But ..but this text file is generated for each and every records..so import file is may be not good option..becoz ..if imported then exiting records are also change...
I'm afriad that I don't understand your concern. Import Records can generate a new record or update an existing record. You have either option. You can also import this data into a separate related table and use the relationship to display this data with muliple related records.
Hi..thnks for replying..
i just want to update current record only.
in import records..it update all the record
How can we update current record only..?
Make sure that the current record is the only record in your found set. Then that is the only record that can be updated.
Here's a script that can isolate the current record in a found set of just that one record:
Set Variable [$PrimaryKey ; value: YourTable::PrimaryKey ]
Enter FInd Mode
Set FIeld [YourTable::PrimaryKey ; $PrimaryKey ]
I have assumed that your text in your text field is a single line of text. If your file has multiple rows of text separated by returns, a more sophisticated import would be needed to get all of that data into a single text field, but this is not terribly difficult to set up if such is the case.
