Maybe try checking out one of the starter solutions? The Invoices one is pretty useful IMHO.
Also the documentation has some information on relations "http://www.filemaker.com/support/product/docs/fmp/fmp11_users_guide.pdf"
I'm pretty new so I can't really offer too much advice. Maybe elaborate on how you setup your DB, and how your trying to display the related fields to begin with.
Sounds like you need to add another table where each record is a "stop" for a given "job". One Record for it in the Jobs table but several records in the "Stops" or "Route" table. Assuming you need one Contacts record for any given job, that gives you these relationships:
Contacts-----<Jobs----<Stops (---< means one to many relationship)
Contacts::ContactID = Jobs::ContactID
Jobs::JobID = Stops::JobID
On a jobs based layout, you could then display info from the related Contacts record and use a portal to list the "stops" needed for that specific Job.
