    Duplicate record, only specified fields

      Duplicate record, only specified fields

I have a patient record for the last visit. There is patient-specific stuff (DOB) and visit-specific stuff (Temperature). Want to duplicate that record but only the patient-specified fields of the old record. This is just a simple flat file DB and I don't want to complicate it. Is that possible?

It will be less complicated in the long run to define one table for basic patient info (name, DOB, etc) and a related table for data specific to a particular visit. This can eliminate the need for any record duplicating and its easy to add/edit the related records via a portal.

To do what you describe could be done by duplicating the record and then clearing the extra fields in a script that uses set field or Clear to clear those fields, but I don't recommend that approach.
