Email merge with Apple Mail (version 2.1.3) and Filemaker 11

      Post

      Hi,

Our company recently purchased Filemaker Pro 11. We'd love to be able to send an email that merges the first name of the recipient (and if possible their mailing address) into each email and send it out as a blast. Generally, we send the same note to 100+ people at a time and cutting and pasting their first name into each email is very time consuming.

Is there a quicker way to do this. Also, the email system we use is the regular Apple email (version 2.1.3) and our Word program is pretty old too (Word X for Mac). Maybe we need to upgrade another program to make this possible?

Thank you so much for your advice!

Look at the FileMaker Send Mail script step (in the Miscellaneous section, at the end). It has an option for "multiple emails (one for each record in found set)". Send Mail came out in FileMaker 6, so it will work with older versions of Apple Mail. I don't know what Word has to do with this.

P.S. This is going to be a plain text email (it can have an attachment). If you need HTML formatting or images, you'll need a email plug-in.
