Sounds like a method that can work if your needs justify the cost to "buy a local dedicated number"....
twillo is $1 per month plus .0075 cent per text https://www.twilio.com/sms/pricing
and there is the free method of sending text from email, which I guess that is the method that Phil had suggested. The draw back is FM email show garbage in the from box. Using a email plug-in fixes that issue. The text email for the carriers is easily obtained off the internet. I created a database two years ago.
Thanks for the feedback. The text magic service is $4/month for the dedicated phone and 2 cents per message. This will not be a big cost for my needs of approx. 100 emails/month. My next step will be to try their free trial and see if I can modify my email script to make this work. If I hit a snag on this, I will come back to the carrier identification method.
The Twilio method requires the HTTPS POST connection for FM 13. The FM 10 & 11 versions I have will not work unless I do a plugin. I haven't figured that out yet.
To be continued.
Have not had time to sign up & try the TextMagic service yet, but I was thinking about the ability to send text to a phone with AOL's AIM. Does anyone know how I could modify my email script to send the text thru AIM?
Attached is my email script Phil helped me write a few months ago to:
