So basically no. Have to pick up the mouse. I tried this and got no where. It's clunky and frankly I couldn't get it to work. Too bad. I can make the drop down work, but it only populates with a number ... not the full name. If there is a way to do this I will switch the whole thing to drop down. I don't want to put a drop down on top of a pop up. When this becomes fully internet based, it will pose a significant problem.
You shouldn't need to use the mouse to get this to work. You should be able to tab into the drop down list formatted field.
But I use a different method in many of my solutions:
FileMaker 12 users: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/78737945/SimpleNameLookupDemo.fmp12
Pre FileMaker 12 Users: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/78737945/SimpleNameLookupDemo.fp7
I can type data directly into the single drop down list field and the list auto-completes, but the entered name is then used to find an auto-enter the correct ID, it kinda turns the process inside out. Scripting is put in place to handle cases where the entered text does not match any name and when the entered text matches multiple names.
