I realize that this does not answer the question.
There is an equation that determines host limits, this is an explanation for FMP 3 on Win 95, but the concept holds true.
it sounds like you may have reached the maximum connections supported by
FMP. Here is the math to figure it out (taken from TechInfo article found at
FileMaker Pro 3.x:
Host maximum databases open = 50
#IDs used per any database open on host = 2
#IDs used per guest connection to one hosted database = 2
So, given 25 databases open on host, FMP 3.0 also has 254 - (25*2) = 204
IDs for guests. Given 10 guests, they can all open 10 of those databases
(10*10*2 = 200 IDs), but will not all be able to open 11 databases because
10*11*2 = 220, which is greater than the 204 IDs available.
The total number of connections may also be limited by the sort of
operations being performed on the host. If the host is in the middle of
some operation that uses 5 or 6 temporary IDs, this would cause it to
refuse new connections sooner than expected from the calculations above.
I am having the same issue. Everytime I run the Perform script on server I get the Error 812. Did you ever get an answer to this issue?
My file is on a public server, so there might be some real host capacity issue but I suspect not.
Thanks for your help!
My script was using the Plastic plugin to charge credit cards from FileMaker Go. There is some bug in either the Plastic plugin or FM Server 13, that does not let server scripts use the "Install Plugin" script step. Once I removed this script step and manually installed and enabled the plugin on the server the error disappeared. Not sure what 812 has to do with that but have not seen it since.
I recommend reporting this in Report an Issue to bring this to the attention of the TS personnel that monitor that section of the forum. To save typing, post a link to this thread.
Very interesting! This is exactly what I am trying to do. I am using the plastics2 plugin, but it is on a public server and I had to have the admin install the plugin, ever since I have been getting this error.
I know that the server is a mini mac running Server 13, but since I dont have access admin console I have no way to do this myself. :)
Any suggestions on what I can say to the server admin to fix this problem? He did say it didnt look like it install correctly. He sent along a screen capture of the screen.
Thanks for the quick response!
I had contacted 360 and these are the steps they gave me that worked...
1. Install the plugin in the extensions folder.
2. Use the terminal commands "fmsadmin fmse stop" and "fmsadmin fmse start" to restart the scripting engine
3. Click the enable checkbox on the plugin only once
