### Title

Excel import of Number 1.316 BECOMES 1.3160000000000000586 to 18 digits

### Post

I am working on a Filemaker project where I import the data from an excel spreadsheet. Strangely additional digits are appearing after the decimal. They do NOT exist in the spreadsheet prior to import. Most fields have 18 digits after the decimal.

I have been unsuccessful in setting import options such as

(ROUND field ; 2)

(SetPrecision Field ; 2)

I am able to have the data appear through setting the NUMBER limit on the field but that doesn't help with the calculations that would occur.

The fields are of course NUMBER fields. Please help with this strange occurrence.

2.499 BECOMES 2.4990000000000001101

25.11 BECOMES 25.109999999999999432

13.29 BECOMES 13.289999999999999147

1.316 BECOMES 1.3160000000000000586

BTW, setting the field to auto-enter a calculation (replacing existing data) =

Round ( field ; 2 )

should work, if you enable auto-enters during imports. The SetPrecision() function does not do what you think it does.
