      Exporting to Excel

      Post

I am new to FileMaker (and to database development) and maybe this is a basic question.

I have two tables (Samples and Results) related in a 1 to many relationship (each Sample may have many Results). I need to export the data to Excel in such a way that I get each record of the main table (Sample) with the variables of the secondary table (Results) as columns.

My question is: is it possible? and how?

Sorry if I didn't make myself clear, my english is not good. Below is an image of what I am trying to get, I hope it makes things clear.

      Thanks,

      Paulo

When you export to Excel from FileMaker, each record produces a row in the spreadsheet, not a column like you have in your result. If you export to Excel from a layout based on the results table, you can include the Sample ID from the Sample table to get a spreadsheet that looks like this:

          PK Sample Type  Result
          1                X        a
          1                X        s
          1                X        w
          2                Y        b
          2                Y        d

          and so forth...
