If it works on other machines but not this one, then we need to determine what is the difference. You took care of the application FileMaker Pro, so that is one less factor. So, it is either the database file or the system.
If the file is being shared, then you will need to determine what is the difference between the operating systems. If the file is NOT being shared, try taking the file to another machine that is working, and see if you get the same problem. If so, then the database file is probably corrupt. Pull down the File menu and select "Recover", and recover the database file. Open the recovered file and see if the problem persists. If you don't have a problem, then you need to focus on the systems.

Just to let you know that SP3 seemed to do the job. The user reports no further problems after the Service Pack was installed. Thanks much for your help.
