So if field 1 is not empty field 2 displays a checked value?
Make field 2 a calculation field: Not IsEmpty(Field1)
Format field 2 with check boxes and specify a single value value list with the number 1 as its only value.
Re-size field 2 so that only the check box is visible.
Thanks for your help Phil.
For the checkbox for field 2...is the value 1 supposed to be a custom value?
If so, i'm not sure what to do now because the steps did not work.
Yes, it's a custom value and it works for me.
How doesn't it work for you? (Perhaps I'm assuming something wrong about what you want.)
If you remove the check box formatting from the field, what value does the calculation return?
I made the field 2 the calcuation of "not is empty (field 1).
Then made field 2 a checkbox with a custom value of 1.
When i enter data into feild 1, nothing happens in field 2.
When i try to click on the checkbox of field 2 it says that the field is not modifyable.
When i make field 2 an edit box instead of checkbox, all records show "0". Even the ones where field 1 has data in it.
It's hard to tell from here what might be different. Here's a demo file: http://www.4shared.com/file/243217525/e6597815/CalculatedCheckBox.html
CheckBox is a calculation field (An thus, you can't modify it by clicking it as you discovered.)
CheckBox 2 uses the expresion as an auto-entered calculation. Thus, it can be modified.
