Fields in a portal in find mode
I have created a portal, but i can't get the fields to allow to be entered within find mode. How do I change the settings, so that I can do that?
Did you turn on the option to allow entry in find mode under field behaviors?
Yes i have checked for that several times, thus it makes no sense for me, why i can't enter the fields in the portal in finde mode...
You can only enter criteria in the first row of the portal when in find mode. You won't be able to enter data in additional rows of the portal. Does that match what you are seeing?
I'm aware that it is only the first row, which is enterable in find mode and it is also the first row that i can't search in and therefore enter in find mode..
Any chance the field in question is a global field?
What is a global field? anything to do with global storage?
Yes, a global field is a field that has global storage selected in field options. Such fields can't be searched and thus can't be entered when in find mode.
I have know also checked for the that, and Global Storage is not selected. So I don't know whats wrong, but I managed to work around it, because I found out that if you insert a field after you've already created the portal, the field can be entered in finde mode. So I just replaced all my fields, and then it works.
But thank you for all your replies!
Aha, that may explain it. I suspect the fields you replaced referred to a different table occurrence than that specified in your portal set up...
Replacing the fields with new copies as you've described will fix that detail.
